Max Brown’s book was the work of an open-minded outsider who’d put time and effort into studying the events of the Gang’s lives on the ground, in the caves, the ranges and the rough dwellings – wherever the incidents occurred. Complete with a Certificate of Authenticity, this print has been digitally reproduced from the original photograph. The photograph was taken by Melbourne photographer John Chidley after the 20-round bare-knuckle boxing match at Beechworth on August 8th 1874 to commemorate Ned Kelly’s victory over opponent Isaiah ‘Wild’ Wright.
